Going Deep in Meditating
Meditation is the practice of controlling and calming the thoughts in a person’s mind. Approximately 50,000 thoughts cloud up a person’s mind a day. Many of these are made up of thought patters, such as things that worry us, and they repeat over and over again making your brain very busy and causing a lot of stress. Just imagine how many thoughts this is for your human brain. Realize that your brain has its limitations as well, and that you can breakdown from all the stresses and pressures that surrounds you now. Take a breath, and start meditating to slow down your brain and allow it to relax and rest.
There are four levels of frequencies or rhythms for our brain cycles: Beta (20 cycles per second); Alpha (10 cycles per second); Theta (4-7 cycles per second); and, Delta (1-4 cycles per second). They happen during your outer conscious levels or through most part of the day; on a relaxed, daydream state; on a deeply relaxed, dream state, deep meditation; and, deep sleep, respectively. The regular meditation occurs on the alpha level and deep meditation occurs on the theta level. During these levels, the brain sends out healthy chemicals that benefits your overall health. It enables you to access your thoughts more easily.
The most effective method to achieve your goal of getting your brain into alpha and theta frequencies is to simply sit in a relaxed position and closed your eyes. Do not lie down to avoid falling asleep. Inhale deeply and begin counting backwards slowly from 100. The reason for this is to allow your brain to shut out all other thoughts that is bugging you. Next, visualize a soft blue light starting at the top of your head. Let it move slowly down to your body and relaxing each body part that it touches as it goes. By the time you reach the count to 1, the light should have reached the soles of your feet already. It is believed that at this point in time, your body is so relaxed that your brain enters alpha level already, or better, theta level, the deep meditative state. Stay in this state for 15-20 minutes and feel the benefits of deep meditation working on you.
